ABOUT

WHO AM I?

Hi I'm Richard Yi, and I'd like to introduce you to the designer who created this website.

This designer is the kind of designer who doesn't stop when things get tough; he doubles down. When a design hits a wall, he'll break through it with sheer obsession, caffeine, and maybe a questionable life choice or two.

Trading health for results, sleep for deadlines, He’s a driven mix of creativity and intensity. But don’t worry, employers — he keeps a healthy balance and knows how to manage his well-being.

Who did I work with?

Details

Designer Identity

A chameleon-like designer who embraces flexibility in every creative condition. Guided by a cool blue color scheme and rooted in modernist principles, I adapt to any design challenge with ease. I'm skilled in both modernist and minimalist design, yet equally comfortable with complex, layered compositions. When faced with a tough problem, I'll find a way to solve it by any means necessary.

Specialization / Strengths

My work bridges simplicity and complexity, function and expression. I value structure, clarity, and visual rhythm. Always seeking designs that feel intentional, balanced, and quietly bold. My strength lies in flexibility: the ability to shift between aesthetics without losing my identity.

Career / Education / Collaboration Experience

Graduated from Austin Peay State University.

Collaborated with:

  • DRZL Fabrication LLC

  • Total Restoration Transformation Center

  • US FreedomWalk Festival

Each collaboration challenged me to merge my personal design language with the needs of diverse organizations, shaping a broader understanding of real-world communication through design.

Personal Motivation or Story

I entered the design field about six years ago by coincidence, no clear goal, just curiosity. Over time, that curiosity evolved into passion. Through countless projects and experiments, I learned that design could leave something lasting behind. Now, my goal is simple: to create work that remains, even after I'm gone.

Skill / Tool

Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro, with experience across both print and digital media. Also skilled in website design using Wix and Squarespace, focusing on clean layouts, responsive structure, and user-friendly navigation. Strong sense of typography, composition, and brand consistency.

What do I like outside of design field?

I'm a big fan of films; they inspire how I think about pacing, emotion, and storytelling in design. I also love assembling Gunpla (Gundam model kits); the process of building piece by piece feels a lot like design, patience, structure, and imagination coming together.

Brand Identity

A cool blue color scheme defines the brand, rooted in modernism, blending 60% minimalism with 40% complex design. It's clean, refreshing, and structured, yet leaves room for creative depth and expression.

Brand Story

This brand is my personal identity, a reflection of who I am as a designer and the weapon I use to express creativity. It embodies my mindset, passion, and the evolution of my design journey.

Specialization / Strengths

My work focuses on modernism and a refined form of minimalism, simple, but never plain. I add subtle decorative effects throughout the website to create a sense of play and depth. My greatest strength lies in adaptability: a chameleon-like design approach that adjusts to every condition and challenge.

Philosophy / Values

Design should be flexible, responsive, and transformative, just like a chameleon. I believe a true designer evolves with each project, adapting to context while maintaining a distinct voice.

Portfolio Highlights

Selected works include this website, conceptual brand logo designs, and animated logo effects. Each piece explores the balance between simplicity and complexity, motion and stillness.

Vision / Future Goals

As a designer, my goal is to leave behind works that speak, designs that outlive trends and continue to inspire.
